Probably the most neglected and important building element which requires regular and thorough inspection and general maintenance. Gutters and downpipes should be cleaned and inspected regularly to ensure that they are secure and free from blockages and leaks.

Out of sight, out of mind. Some roof slopes are impossible to inspect from the ground. Don’t wait until a leak appears. You should carry out a thorough visual inspection at least once a year, ideally in the Spring to identify and repair any damage that could have been caused by winter weather.

Some of the hardest to reach places. Chimney stacks should be regularly monitored for any indications of damage, instability or other defects. Missing, loose or defective mortar should be re-pointed as necessary. A done survey can provide a quick and detailed inspection of these critical components.
